A Limit on Sand Trout

You say "Whooa!!!!  There is no limit on Sand Trout.  As this tale unfolds, you'll see that there really is a limit on Sand Trout.

It all started a couple of Saturdays ago when a friend met me at the docks to go fishing.  We started out on the Pipeline where we found the water was like the coffee served at McDonald's and not even a hard head would bite.  It didn't take long to leave that location and head for Mud Island.  At Blind Pass, we were able to start connecting with Redfish, but it turns out every fish is a heartbreaker ( just under 20 inches).  This is fun, but not putting any fish in the box.

From there, we go behind Mud Island, around the Duck Blinds with the same results.  My friend is saying he was hoping to have fish for a fish fry Sunday, so off we go again.

This time we go to the break in the island and quickly hook up with some nice Specs and more small Reds.  This dies off shortly and away we go again.  At this time the day is wearing on and the wind is kicking up so we head for Corpus Christi Bayou and drop the hook in a hole where you enter the bayou.

Bam!!!  Right off there is a fourteen inch Sand Trout, not bad as Sand Trout go.  You guessed it.  We caught them as fast as we could take them off the hook.  The fish box is filling up fast and quickly getting to the point where you have to keep your foot on the lid to keep it on.

My friend is having the time of his lie and I'm thinking I'll be all night cleaning fish.  That's right, it's time to put a limit on Sand Trout.

Any way, it's getting late and my friend is getting tired and he has reached his limit on Sand Trout.

Overall the day was a success and my friend took home almost two gallons of filets.
